WHITE RABBIT COLLECTION
Accessories for AW07/08 from Electronic Sheep
When the creatures who feature in Helen and Brenda's graphic novels
take their annual holiday to a sixties' ski resort, they wrap up with the
Electronic Sheep AW07 knitwear collection. In luxurious lambswool,
the hats and scarves are patterned with images inspired by the pair's
hand-drawn comic books. The characters morph into striking graphic
patterns in bold colours across baggy beanies, bobble hats and
headbands, as well as the signature Esheep triangular scarf.
In the latest instalment of the Electronic Sheep graphic tale, the source of
the current collection, two new characters have joined the existing cast -
Funny Valentine the white rabbit is fascinated by flowers and romance, while
Stork danced off a 60's matchbook Helen found in a scrapbook at Portobello
Road market. Suave and sophisticated in his top hat, he runs a New York
nightclub patronised by film stars and gangsters. Both characters, along with
Pandora the glamorous human girl and the eponymous Electronic Sheep, can be
spotted within the designs that decorate this season's collection, and
the graphic
novel itself is on sale in comic shops across London, New York and Dublin.
BACKGROUND
Electronic Sheep is an Irish designer label specialising in
knitwear for men, women and babies, combining the talents of best friends Brenda Aherne, a
knitwear expert, and graphic designer Helen Delany.
Since growing up next door to one another, between them the pair have lived
in London, New York, Munich, Rome and their hometown Dublin. Despite being
geographically separated, they have always collaborated on creative projects
and set up the Electronic Sheep label in 1998, inspired by a question from
Blade Runner - 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'
The Electronic Sheep graphic novel, staring the eponymous Electronic Sheep
along with Stork, Funny Valentine, Pandora and the rest is an image lead
series of stories in which the main characters travel from city to
city in electrical
objects, creating art, music, film and chaos on the way. The newest episode
will be released in October 2007 and will be on sale in comic stores and can
